Basketball’s Kareem Abdul-Jabbar supports UAE diabetes drive
U.S. National Basketball Association champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has offered his support to a UAE-based campaign seeking to combat diabetes.
The #Walk2014 campaign, spearheaded by the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, seeks to push people toward living a more active lifestyle.
Participants can enter the campaign’s competition by posting a “shoefie” of themselves walking with the hashtag #Walk2014. In response, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar posted a “shoefie” on his official twitter page.
Top entrees will get a chance to meet the basketball player in Abu Dhabi on October 28.
The player nominated key digital influencers in the UAE to also take a step for diabetes, including Virgin Radio’s Kris Fade and Brent Black and Mohamed al-Otaiba, editor-in-chief of The National UAE newspaper.
“Challenge accepted @kaj33! Yallah, UAE! Take a step with me for #diabetes at #Walk2014” Virgin Radio presenter Kris Fade tweeted in accepting the challenge.
Mohammed al-Otaiba posted, “Thanks for the nomination @kareemabduljabbar_33 @kaj33! #TheNationalUAE supports #healthyliving! We will definitely be at #Walk2014.”Leave a reply →
